Medvedev discusses his current form: "It's not about tennis, but mainly about confidence"

Medvedev will begin his Madrid tournament with a second-round match against Djere. The Russian hopes to do better than his quarter-final finish last year. While he doesn’t claim to be a clay-court specialist, the 29-year-old is gradually improving on the surface. In an interview shared by Tennis World Italia, the world No. 11 spoke about his current mindset: "What I love about my career is that you’ve seen me since I was 14, 18, and 21. I’ve always played decent tennis, but I don’t think people believed I’d become No. 1 and win a Grand Slam. Right now, I’m almost at 100%. It’s about confidence—it’s no longer about tennis, it’s not a training issue, but a self-belief thing. That comes with wins, so we need to keep winning."
