Arthur Fils Exhausted After Defeat: "The Schedule Is Tough, You Have to Keep Going"

Arthur Fils was knocked out in the second round in Madrid against Comesana (7-6, 6-4). A surprising loss for the Frenchman, after reaching back-to-back quarter-finals in Monte-Carlo and Barcelona. In the post-match press conference, the world No. 14 reflected on his performance: "I struggled a bit, even in training here, to control the ball. As the match went on, I missed more and more. All the credit goes to him. He played well, fought hard, and made me work when he needed to. As for me, I missed a lot, a lot. Of course, if I’d closed out the first set quickly, it would’ve been different. But I let him come back a bit, and then the momentum shifted—it wasn’t the same match anymore. It happens. But I won’t dwell on it. I’ve had good weeks, four solid tournaments. Sure, it’s a loss, like any other loss—it’s always frustrating—but it’s not the end of the world. I’ll just have to get back to training. I’m tired. The schedule is tough, you have to keep going. I’m exhausted. I’ll take two or three days to rest, then we’ll get back to work."
