It’s an injury I’ve been carrying for a while," Raducanu discusses back issues after Queen’s exit

Emma Raducanu had a positive week at Queen’s, bowing out in the quarter-finals to Qinwen Zheng but reclaiming her spot as the British No. 1 in the process. However, the 2021 US Open champion confirmed in her press conference that a back injury has been bothering her for several weeks and that she’s been managing the discomfort day by day: "I’ve been struggling with my back since the Strasbourg tournament. It’s an injury that flares up intermittently. I’ve managed it well over the last few weeks, but I guess after five matches this week—even though two were doubles—it’s really tested my limits. "I could feel the pain increasing as the match went on. I had to step off the court, they strapped me up and gave me painkillers. It’s something that’s been lingering for a while. I’ve had back issues before—I think it’s one of my weak points, so I just need to look after it properly. "I’m not worried that it’s anything serious. But it’s annoying and requires caution.
