With Shelton entering the top 10, American tennis is set to witness a first in almost 20 years

Qualified for the semi-finals in Stuttgart, Ben Shelton will break into the top 10 on Monday for the first time in his career. He will be the third American player among the world's top 10, after Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul, ranked 7th and 8th respectively this week. A kind of revival for American men's tennis, as it has been since April 17, 2006, that the United States last had three players in the ATP top 10. Back then, Andy Roddick was the top American, holding the 4th spot in the world rankings, ahead of James Blake at 7th and Andre Agassi at 10th.
