Cerundolo eliminates Mayot in the second Franco-Argentinian clash in Madrid

After defeating Moutet in the previous round, Harold Mayot recorded his first victory in a Masters 1000. Qualifying for the second round, Cerundolo stood in his way for a Franco-Argentinian clash. Despite a lot of determination, the 23-year-old player was defeated in 1 hour and 28 minutes and exited the Spanish tournament. Having come through the qualifications, the winner of the Australian Open junior had eliminated Shevchenko and Boyer to reach the main draw of the Masters 1000. On the other hand, Cerundolo had the advantage of a bye in the first round. He thus joins his compatriot Comesana for a place in the round of sixteen. The player, ranked 21st in the ATP rankings, is confident as he comes off a semi-final in Munich.
