It’s an injury I’ve been carrying for a while," Raducanu discusses her back issues after Queen’s exit

Emma Raducanu had a positive week at Queen’s, reaching the quarter-finals before being eliminated by Qinwen Zheng, while also reclaiming her position as the British No. 1. However, the 2021 US Open champion confirmed in a press conference that she has been dealing with a back injury for several weeks and has been managing the discomfort day by day: "I’ve been struggling with my back since the Strasbourg tournament. It’s an injury that flares up intermittently. I’ve managed it well over the last few weeks, but I suppose after five matches this week—even though two were doubles—it’s a test of my limits. I could feel the pain gradually increasing. I had to step off the court, they strapped me up and gave me painkillers. It’s something that’s been lingering for a while. I’ve had back issues before. I think it’s one of my weak points, so I just need to take proper care of it. I’m not worried that it’s anything serious. But it’s annoying and requires caution.
