I played three hours on grass before starting my first match," Humbert recounts his tough preparation for ’s-Hertogenbosch

For his first grass-court tournament of the year, Ugo Humbert has reached the semifinals in ’s-Hertogenbosch, where he will face Gabriel Diallo. The Frenchman, who was forced to retire at Roland-Garros, endured an extremely challenging clay season while playing with a fractured hand. His grass-court preparation wasn’t ideal either, as he explained to *L’Équipe*: "The preparation wasn’t great. I didn’t have the best feel, I struggled to get the ball moving. The weather was horrible—it just kept raining. At one point, I got on the court, and after two minutes, there was a downpour. They closed the practice courts. I played a lot on indoor hard courts and maybe three hours on grass before starting my first match. But in any case, I’m conditioned to compete.
