Svitolina withdraws from the WTA 500 in Berlin, Kostyuk in the main draw

The lineup for the WTA 500 in Berlin has been known for several weeks and is very enticing. The best players in the world have decided to intensify their preparation for Wimbledon in the German capital, including Sabalenka, Gauff, Pegula (the defending champion), Paolini, Andreeva, Keys, and Zheng, all of whom will be present in Germany. However, a top 15 player initially registered for the tournament has decided to withdraw, and that is Elina Svitolina. Ranked 13th in the world, the Ukrainian is expected to participate in the WTA 500 tournament in Bad Homburg the following week, one week before the start of the London Grand Slam. With this withdrawal, Svitolina's compatriot, Marta Kostyuk, benefits by entering directly into the main draw. The world number 26 was initially supposed to play in the qualifiers.
