In the latest episode of the *Nothing Major* podcast, John Isner discussed the start of his grass-court season and the tournaments that help players adjust to the surface before Wimbledon. He was highly critical of these events leading up to the London Grand Slam: "I couldn’t stand these grass warm-up tournaments. I couldn’t stand the courts. The courts at Wimbledon are extremely different compared to those at Queen’s. The courts at Queen’s were very slippery. I played there a few times and couldn’t move properly. And they wouldn’t let us practice on the main courts before the first balls were struck on Monday. The year I reached the semifinals at Wimbledon, I didn’t play any warm-up tournaments. So for me, playing matches beforehand didn’t matter.
